WOOD FIBER

Scanfiber covers the supply of mostly all grades of wood fiber. Woodchips will be delivered in different sizes and quality. From a biomass grade to a pulp chip quality suited for the energy industry, MDF/OSB- or pulp and paper industry. The same different grades are supplied of pulpwood or energy wood. We also offer sawlogs ranging from first class to second class, Scandinavian standard. All grades are offered both as hardwood and softwood (short fiber and long fiber).

Scanfiber also investigates and pursues new sources of raw materials to a highly developed industry. Such new sources include sawmills with new shipping capacity, plantations ready for production, supplies resulting from structural changes in different countries and new techniques facilitating production for export.

New species of wood are steadily being introduced in the industry. Scanfiber makes a special point of keeping itself updated in different types of pine, spruce, fir, eucalyptus and hardwoods. Scanfiber plays an active role as adviser and cooperating partner in the search for new supplies.

The loading of woodchips and logs is a costly process. To ensure optimal performance, the most cost-efficient methods must be constantly sought. Scanfiber has this requisite know-how based on their long experience in handling woodchips and logs shipments.

HANDLING OPERATIONS

Discharging woodchips and logs is another area where cost can be reduced. Scanfiber has detailed knowledge of vessel’s draft, length and beam restriction in all relevant ports, together with working hours and specialized working conditions. Scanfiber’s innovative approach to cost reduction has produced many significant improvements in discharging procedures during recent years.

OCEAN TRANSPORT

Ocean transport represents a large part of the delivery cost of raw materials. Scanfiber’s staff has solid experience in woodchips and pulpwood/logs handling. Close continuous contact with shipowners and specialized shipbroking companies ensure constant updating on this rapidly changing market and also ensures the ability to offer clients the best service available. Our experience is based on substantial delivery of wood fiber with woodchips carriers and geared as well as conventional bulkers over many years.

Shipments are always carried out in the most economical way. Shipment sizes can vary from 2000 GMT to 50000 GMT (green metric tonnes) of woodchips and/or pulpwood/logs.
